Soroti Cricket Academy’s U-17 girls team Invited to Rwanda

In the wake of a stellar year in 2023 concluded by an awards ceremony and dinner last December in Soroti City, Soroti Cricket Academy is stepping into 2024 with open arms, embracing significant opportunities for development and nurturing young cricket talents as they embark on a trip to Kigali.

Rwanda Cricket Association extended a cordial invitation to Soroti Cricket Academy, recognizing their outstanding performance in girls’ cricket last year.

This invitation is not merely a challenge but a testament to the academy’s prowess in the game. Rwanda seeks to provide a platform for Soroti Cricket Academy to showcase their talent and contribute to the preparation of the under-17 national team of Rwanda on the ladies’ side.

A formidable team of 14 players and 3 officials has been meticulously selected to represent the academy in the upcoming series scheduled to take place in Kigali from the 15th to the 19th of January 2024. The team, under the guidance of Head Coach Twijukye Emmanuel, exudes confidence and determination.

Coach Emmanuel emphasizes the potential within the team, expressing trust in each player’s abilities. The squad’s rigorous preparation further bolsters their optimism for success on foreign soil.

The selection criteria for the team focused on the under-17 age category, ensuring that all listed players are under the auspices of Soroti Cricket Academy.

The team is set to embark on their journey to Kigali on the 14th, with the academy extending sincere gratitude to the Uganda Cricket Association for their unwavering support and guidance towards this tour. Rwanda Cricket Association’s invitation has not only presented a thrilling series but also a unique opportunity for cross-cultural engagement.

Anayo Christine will travel as the manager for the team and Emmanuel Twijukye will be at the helm as coach and he will be assisted by Achawo Sandra Chandong.

Jimia Mohammad Abadallah will be the skipper for the side and she will be assisted by Asumin Akurut, other members on the squad are; Apolot Patricia, Amayo Martha, Arugo Joyce Mary, Tino Sarah, Apio Blessing, Icumar Josephine, Agwang Patricia, Ariago Mitchell, Atim Sarah, Akiteng Rehema, Timong Patricia and Nyanmer Devine.

Acen Patricia and Iro Judith will serve as the reserves for the team.
The delegation which is leaving Kampala on 14th December will be led by Mr Musana Felix (Chairman Soroti Cricket Academy) and othe members traveling are Mrs Ngabirye Esther (SCA board member) and Sajjabi Ivan Cyprian (Media attache of the squad).

SCA U-17 is set to engage in a thrilling series of matches against Rwanda U-17, adhering to the schedule provided:
