Former Speaker of Parliament Rt.Hon. Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga has assured the people of Busoga that no one will stop Nyege Nyege when she is still alive.
She also warned those fighting Busoga region at the 8th Coronation of the Kyabazinga of Busoga William Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope IV that was held on Tuesday at Bugembe.
“As long as am still alive no one will fight Busoga, those fighting Nyege Nyege also have the same events in Kampala, events like Roast and Ryme, Blankets and wine Rolex festival and others, so why are they fighting Nyege Nyege? Maybe because it is in Busoga.” Said Kadaga at the coronation of the Kyabazinga in Bugembe.
Last week, the Speaker of the 11th Parliament Rt.Hon.Anita Annet Among confirmed that they had stopped Nyege Nyege festival from taking place claiming that it promotes sexual immorality.
Immediately after the development, Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja confirmed that government has given the festival a greenlight but with restrictions.
