Kabuleta remanded to Luzira prison for allegedly promoting sectarianism

National Economic Empowerment Dialogue party president and former presidential candidate who was arrested on Monday from his offices in Bugolobi was finally produced in Nakawa court in Kamapala today Wednesday 30th, 2022.

Kabuleta is being charged for promoting sectarianism. It is alleged that on the 30th of May this year, Kabuleta and other NEED party members said that service delivery in the district of Mbarara was based on ethnic lines of Bahima, Bakiga and Banyankole.

This was at one of the party’s weekly press conferences held every Monday.

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Jane Frances Abodo stated on the charge sheet that Kabuleta and other party members made and published on a YouTube channel called Joseph Kabuleta statements that are likely to create alienation or despondency.

Kabuleta and Prossy Ayebare remanded to Luzira

Kabuleta alongside Prossy Ayebare were latter remanded to Luzira prison and are set to return to court on the 14th of December 2022 for further hearing of the case.
