Police have arrested events promoter Abbey Musinguzi alias Abitex who organized the end of year concert at Freedom City Mall in Namasuba in which 10 people died.
Nine people lost their lives on spot in the Freedom City stampede but the lastest indicates that the 10th person also died on Sunday.
Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga has confirmed Abitex’s arrest and the hunt for other organisers and managers of the same concert is on
“We have arrested the promoter of that New Year concert as we continue the hunt for other organisers and managers of the same concert.”
“The celebrations were progressing well until that moment when the Master of Ceremonies (MC) recklessly made an announcement for the concertgoers to move out and watch the fireworks display as one of the indicators that the New Year had come,” Enanga Said while addressing the media on Monday at the Police headquarters in Naguru.
