Police in Mbarara district have killed three assailants who had kidnapped a female pastor.
On 6th February, pastor Mary Byarisya was kidnapped from Gomba District.
Rwizi region Police spokesperson ASP Samson Kasasira stated that the pastor was kidnapped by unknown assailants for ransom of Shs30M.
CMI and Criminal Intelligence launched the rescue operation until they intercepted the assailants along the Mbarara-Ibanda road at Ruhumba-Rubindi Town Council Mbarara District on Monday evening.
Behakanira Andrew and the two other assailants yet to be identified were traveling in a vehicle UAZ 935N Toyota Primo and tried to resist arrest before the officers fired bullets at them.
The bodies of the deceased were taken at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital mortuary while Byarisya is undergoing medical examination.
