A pastor identified as Jackline Kisoma has been arrested over alleged human trafficking and recruiting people into a religious cult in Mukono district.

The development was confirmed by Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga at the Police weekly security press conference at the Police headquarters in Naguru.

It is alleged that Kisoma, together with her husband, Daniel Kisoma and another man identified as Guitor Edward, recruited 3 girls who were students at St Francis Nursing School into a religious cult and housed them in a single roomed house in Nakuwadde, Mukono.

Besides these 3 girls, the trio allegedly human trafficked 12 more people of which 4 were women and from Kibaale district.

Two of these have been identified as 20-year-old Akuguzibwe Joan and Nampeera Angela aged 24.

Police also revealed that about 8 children were rescued from the cult after being held captive by the pastor.

According to Enanga, Jackline Kisoma allegedly told her followers to abandon school, and not go to hospital when they fall sick. She also threatened them that if they didn’t follow her instructions, God would punish them.

He said the rescued people are being rehabilitated by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and are being counselled.

According to Enanga,  Kisoma’s Church was not registered and therefore was operating illegally.
