Mother arrested for burning her biological children over food theft

Police in Nakasongola district has arrested a mother on allegations of burning her two biological children for stealing food.

The incident occured on Monday 23 October, 2023, in Kyabutaika Kakooge Town Council in Nakasongola.

It’s alleged that the suspect lit a charcoal stove to burn her children’s hands accusing them of stealing cooked beans meant for a family sauce. She reportedly kept them at home without seeking medical attention.

Sam Twineamaziima, Savannah region police spokesperson the suspect was arrested on charges of torture while the victims were rushed to Kakooge Health Center III for medication.

“Parents are entrusted with the sacred roles of protector and provider of safety for their children. Such acts of violence against the most vulnerable in our society are unacceptable,” Twineamaziima said.
