Uganda’s Eddy Kenzo over the weekend lost the global Music performance category at the 65th annual Grammy Awards to South African trio of Nomcebo Zikode, Mouter Kellrman and Zakes Bantwini .
Kenzo was already a winner in the eyes of many Ugandans as Grammy award nominations are not a cup of tea, as a matter of fact, Kenzo is only the second Ugandan artist after the Abayudaya group to have received the elusive nomination.
In the entertainment world, they say all publicity is good, be it negative or positive. One man that has mastered the art of capitalizing on negative publicity is musician Big Eye aka Mayanja Ibrahim.
Big Eye the Sula Indicator and husband material singer took to his social media platform moments after Kenzo had lost out on the Grammy award to blame him for his and other artists lack of international recognition at global awards.
Big Eye claimed that Eddy Kenzo is selfish with his contacts that he uses to get nominated in these international awards like Grammys and BET awards.
“Its unfortunate that my neighbor didnt succeed at Grammy Awards but my self what i think is, you never know if it was Big Eye, Azawi, Daddy Andre, Apass, Fik Fameica, Spice Diana, Sheebah, Lydia Jazmine, Rema etc..May be so many international awards would have been in Uganda.”
“But the Nigga kept all international contacts & Connections for him self for like 9years now. So some people don’t deserve to use the motto of “FOR GOD AND MY COUNTRY” coz inside their hearts there is “FOR GOD AND MY SELF”. Hope am not wrong to term it as being selfish. I have said this on 06.02.2023” wrote Big Eye on his Facebook page.
A quick look at Eddy Kenzo’s social media pages, he is yet to respond to his friend Big Eye, he is responding to congratulatory messages from fans and fellow artists on the achievement despite not winning the award, hope he finds time to respond to Big Eye.
