Headteacher killed for stealing Sugarcane

Residents of Namayingo killed Oscar Siminyu, the deputy headteacher of Golofa Primary School in Lolwe island sub-county.

Golofa is the only government-aided primary school in the sub-county.

The incident occured in the wee hours of Friday last week.
This was the third time that residents in this area are taking the law into their hands.

Meanwhile, the Police in Namayingo is holding a 47-year-old fisherman in connection with the killing of a deputy head teacher.

Godfrey Mugema is accused of killing Siminyu. He is said to have allegedly caught Siminyu stealing sugarcane at the former’s plantation.

Busoga East Police Spokesperson Diana Nandawula revealed that the accused will soon appear to court.

Namayingo senior education officer John Ouma said Siminyu was a hardworking man who was due to be promoted to the headteacher position next year.
